Ararat Yerevan has appointed Karen Barseghyan as its new head coach. Under his leadership, the team will begin preparations for the 2026/27 season starting June 30. Barseghyan’s previous club was Gandzasar.

Karen Barseghyan has extensive coaching experience in the Armenian Premier League. Through his work, he has repeatedly proven his ability to build competitive and strong teams.
We are confident that, with his dedication and hard work, Barseghyan will help Ararat achieve success.

Karen Barseghyan:
“Accepting Ararat’s offer did not require much hesitation from me, as I have always been—and will always remain—an Ararat man at heart. That is my main motivation.
Ararat has always been, and will always remain, a special club in my life. I have not only started saying this now, but I have always said it.
It may sound a bit emotional, but I feel like I have returned home after 20 years—to the place where I spent my best years as a football player. It was at Ararat that I developed both as a player and as a person.
I fully understand all the challenges the club is facing today. I clearly understand where I have come and where I want to go".

A Devoted Ararat Figure

Karen Barseghyan’s words are backed by a strong legacy. He represented Ararat Yerevan from 1993 to 2001, making 167 appearances in the Armenian Premier League, scoring 47 goals, and winning the Armenian Cup three times (1993, 1994, 1997).

Throughout his coaching career, he has worked at several Armenian Premier League clubs and also served as head coach of Armenia’s youth national team.
